SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Iran’s Marun Petrochemical has restarted its 1.1m tonne/year cracker at Bandar Imam last weekend following some furnace coil repairs, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

“The cracker was started up four or five days ago,” he said, without providing further details on the facility’s operating rate.

Marun had shut the cracker earlier this month due to furnace-related issues.

The cracker was also unexpectedly taken offline in early July due to gas supply disruptions.

Marun is a subsidiary of state-owned National Petrochemical Co and operates the second largest cracker after Jam Petrochemical in the country.

Jam’s cracker has a nameplate ethylene capacity of 1.32 m tonnes/year.
