SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China-based Zhenjiang Nantex Chemical Industry Co will indefinitely delay the startup of its newly expanded 10,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) line, said a company source on Friday.

"The new unit will be completed in November as scheduled, but we won’t start production in the midst of a gloomy market. When to start it depends on the market trend and feedstock butadiene supply," the source added.

Zhenjiang Nantex has an NBR capacity of 20,000 tonnes/year, which is running at around 80% presently due to weak demand.

The company, owned by Taiwanese synthetic rubber giant Nantex Industry Co, is located in Zhenjiang city in the eastern Jiangsu province.

The other domestic NBR producer Lanzhou Petrochemical has a capacity of 20,000 tonnes/year.
