PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Czech biodiesel component producer Setuza is preparing to bring an extra production unit on stream in tandem with the country's implementation of a new biofuel law, the company said on Friday.

Setuza would start up a 40,000 tonne/year fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) unit in Olomouc, in the west of the Czech Republic, from 1 January, said company spokeswoman Marie Logrova.

That date would also see domestic legislation take effect which stipulates that 4.5% of the diesel sold in the country be comprised of FAME, up from the current requirement of 2%, Logrova added.

Logrova said Setuza would aim to ensure that its current 100,000 tonne/year FAME facility in the northern Czech town of Usti nad Labem runs at full capacity from the New Year.

It was currently running at a rate of around 90%, she said.

A third FAME unit with a 10,000 tonne/year capacity, located in the southern town of Mydlovary, was up for sale, Logrova added.
