SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Saudi Arabian oil company Saudi Aramco will have a new president and chief executive officer on 1 January 2009 with the appointment of Khalid A. Al-Falih, who would succeed Abdallah S. Jum‘ah, the company said on Monday.
Jum’ah has decided to retire after 40 years of service to Saudi Aramco.
Al-Falih’s appointment has been approved by the Supreme Council for Petroleum and Mineral Affairs, Saudi Aramco said.
Al-Falih has been with Saudi Aramco for 30 years and has been a member of the company’s board since October 2004. He also served as chairman of South Rub’ al-Khali (SRAK), which is a joint venture between Shell, Total and Saudi Aramco.
