SHANGHAI(ICIS news)--China-based Gaoqiao Petrochemical, a subsidiary of state-owned oil major Sinopec, shut down its phenol-acetone plant in eastern Shanghai from 3 November due to poor sales and weak demand, a company source said on Tuesday.
“I’ve no idea when the plant will resume normal production. It depends on when the market will warm up,” the source said in Mandarin.
The unit produces 120,000 tonne/year of phenol and 80,000 tonne/year of acetone.
Gaoqiao Petrochemical also operates two other 60,000 tonne/year phenol-acetone units, one of which has shut down since August while the other was running normally.
