SES plans $1.3bn coal-chemical project in China

SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--US-based coal-to-chemicals firm Synthesis Energy Systems (SES) plans to build a yuan (CNY) 8.78bn ($1.3bn) coal-to-chemical project in Inner Mongolia by next month or early 2009, said an official from the Inner Mongolia Government.

The project includes a 2.4m tonne/year methanol plant and a 1.6m tonne/year dimethyl ether (DME) plant in Xing Anmeng economic development zone, added the source.

SES had invested in three other coal-to-chemical projects in Shandong, Inner Mongolia and Henan in China.
