NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India has decided to grant environmental approval to Gokulanand Petrofibres to expand its polyester plant in the Surat district of Gujarat, a government official said on Thursday.
The Indian rupees (Rs) 1.57bn ($33m) project provides for expansion of partially oriented yarn (POY) capacity to 105,000 tonnes/year from 21,000 tonnes/year and setting up of a polyester chip unit with 17,500 tonnes/year of capacity.
Captive power capacity will also be doubled to 6 megawatts.
The company is part of the Gokulanand textiles group.
