LONDON (ICIS news)--BP closed one of its acetic acid units at Hull in the UK on 5 November for a scheduled shutdown, a company source said on Friday.

One of its two acetic acid units, with a combined capacity of 510,000 tonnes/year, was expected to be shut down for around one month, said the source.

The source said all contractual obligations for acetic acid would be fulfilled.

At a time when demand was poor and other units in Europe were running at reduced rates, sources expected little or no impact on the market.
