SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) has restarted its aromatics plant today at its Huizhou site in Guangdong province after a 20-day maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

“We are now ramping up the operation rate of this unit gradually after it restarted, and the on-spec products will be achieved shortly,” added the source.
The plant was shut down on 24 October due to the sluggish market. “The sharp downturn on aromatics market had the producer under sales pressure,” said a market source.
The plant produces 120,000 tonne/year of toluene and 100,000 tonne/year of xylene.
