LONDON (ICIS news)--SABIC Europe declared force majeure on its UK C4 stream supply on 7 November, following the unplanned outage at its Wilton cracker, a company source said on Wednesday.

“We are producing [butadiene], but not at full rates,” the source said, adding that it was working to find ways to mitigate the circumstances for its customers.

SABIC produces 100,000 tonnes/year of BD at the Wilton site, according to ICIS plants and projects database, using crude C4 feedstock sourced from the Wilton cracker.

It was able to still run the butadiene extraction unit using its stock of C4s.

The Wilton cracker has the capacity to produce 865,000 tonnes/year of ethylene and 400,000 tonnes/year of propylene. There was no indication when the problems at the cracker would be resolved.
