The division would be headed by Pierre Brondeau, currently president and chief operating officer of Rohm and Haas.
"Establishing the organisation for the new Rohm and Haas advanced materials division will represent another important milestone in Dow's transformation to becoming an earnings growth company," said Dow CEO Andrew Liveris.
The division would have six business groups, to be headed by top executives from both companies, Dow said.
The groups and their leaders are:
Coatings, headed by Luis Fernandez from Rohm and Haas;
Building and construction, led by Torsten Kraef from Dow;
Paper and textiles, led by Philippe Raynaud de Fitte from Dow;
Specialty packaging and films, led by Patrice Barthelmes from Rohm and Haas;
Designed polymers and separation technologies, led by Peter Davies from Dow;
Electronic materials, led by Yi Hyon Paik from Rohm and Haas.
