SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan Polypropylene Corp shut its 100,000 tonne/year plant in Mizushima due to a fire early this morning, a source close to the company said on Friday.

“The fire occurred around midnight, and the fire department are conducting safety checks now,” he said, adding that the start date for the plant had yet to be determined.
Propylene feedstock to the polypropylene plant supplied by Mitsubishi Chemical’s naphtha cracker at the same complex was unaffected, he added.
Japan Polypropylene Corp. is an affiliate of Mitsubishi Chemical.
