APLA ’08: Mexico City to host 2009 meeting

RIO DE JANEIRO (ICIS news)--Mexico City will host the 29th Latin American Petrochemical Annual Meeting (APLA) in 2009, the association said on Tuesday.

The event will be held on 7-10 November, APLA said.

The 28th edition of APLA ended on Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro.

APLA said 740 delegates attended the conference, 9.8% down from 820 participants in the previous year.

APLA appointed Arthur Whitaker as its new chairman at the close of the conference in Rio de Janeiro.

Whitaker replaced Arturo Garcia, who had led the Latin American petrochemical and chemical association since 2004.

The new chairman, who is also CEO of Brazilian petrochemical group Unipar, will hold the position for next two years, APLA said.
