PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Hungary's BorsodChem has no immediate plans to make production cuts in response to falling demand, while it continued to monitor the market day by day, a company official said on Wednesday.
“Times are changing so fast [in this economic decline] that what is true today may not be true tomorrow,” said Alain Schuerwegen, BorsodChem’s sales and marketing director for toluene di-isocyanate (TDI).
Schuerwegen was speaking in the wake of BASF’s announcement on Wednesday of substantial production cuts at its plants worldwide.
“The situation is so unstable, but while we have the orders we will continue with the production rates,” said Schuerwegen.
Borsodchem is a producer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), isocyanates and methyl di-p-phenylene isocynate (MDI).
