HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US ethyl acetate (etac) production will continue at a Solutia plant scheduled to stop production of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer, a company spokeswoman said on Thursday.
Solutia announced this week that its Trenton unit in Michigan will stop producing the interlayers on 31 March and focus on making PVB resin.
Melissa Hammond, Solutia spokeswoman, said discontinuing interlayer work would not affect etac production at the Michigan plant, which produces 11,000 tonnes/year of the material.
Etac is a by-product in the process to make PVB, according to ICIS.
