TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan exported 15,859 tonnes of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin in October, down 12% from the previous year, a local industry association said on Friday.
This was, however, a 1% increase from September, the ABS resin industry association added.
Domestic shipments of ABS resin in October fell 14% year on year and 5% month on month to 24,868 tonnes, according to the association.
Among domestic shipments, 7,202 tonnes were used for the production of cars, down 17% from October 2007 and an 11% decrease from the previous month, the association said.
Shipments of ABS resin for use in electronic appliances were 7% lower in October than the same time a year before at 4,090 tonnes, a 4% decline from September, the association added.
