EVENING SNAPSHOT - Asia Markets Summary

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Here is Monday’s end-of-day Asian oil and chemical market summary from ICIS pricing.

 

CRUDE: January WTI $49.64/bbl down 29 cents January BRENT $48.79/bbl down 40 cents

 

Crude prices weakened on Monday afternoon, giving back gains made earlier in the day. Crude eased amid ongoing concerns retreating demand and the global economic crisis. A stronger US dollar added further downside pressure.

 

NAPHTHA: Asian naphtha prices closed lower Monday. First half January price indications were pegged at $245.00-246.00/tonne CFR (cost and freight) Japan, second half January at $252.00-253.00/tonne CFR Japan and first half February at $259.00-260.00/tonne CFR Japan.

 

BENZENE: Prices firmed to $300-310/tonne FOB (free on board) Korea as two producers were reported bidding for December loading cargoes at $300-305/tonne FOB Korea. No offers surfaced.

 

TOLUENE: Prices edged up to $390-400/tonne FOB Korea with a deal reported at $390/tonne FOB Korea for second half December loading. An offer was heard at $405/tonne FOB Korea for January loading.
