EU Sept new orders fall 0.9%, but chems up 9%

LONDON (ICIS news)--Industrial new orders in the 27-member EU fell 0.9% in September compared with the same period in 2007, while orders for chemicals and man-made fibres rose 9%, the official statistics agency Eurostat said on Monday.

In the 15-member eurozone, industrial new orders decreased 1.1% compared with September 2007 and for chemicals and man-made fibres increased 9.2%.

Month on month, industrial orders fell 4.6% in the EU and 3.9% in the eurozone. Orders for chemicals and man-made fibres were up both 0.1% in the EU and the eurozone compared with August.
