SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea’s Samsung Petrochemical Co (SPC) is to shut its No 3 450,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) line at Ulsan next week for maintenance work lasting 10 days, a company source said Friday.

“The line will be down in December. I can confirm that it should last around ten days,” said the source.

The rest of the company’s PTA units would run normally at full nameplate capacity, the source said.

SPC is Korea’s largest PTA producer and one of the largest suppliers in Asia.

It has three PTA units at Ulsan with a total capacity of 1.1m tonnes/years, and another 700,000 tonne/year facility at Daesan.
