SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan's Lee Chang Yung (LCY) Chemical Industry will shut its 140,000 tonne/year thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) plant in Kaohsiung on 20 December for three weeks of maintenance, said a company source on Friday.

''Due to the upcoming shutdown, we are not looking to buy [feedstock] butadiene [BD] at present although we are monitoring the pricing,'' said the source.

BD price discussions dropped below $700/tonne CFR (cost and freight) NE Asia (northeast Asia) this week amid poor downstream demand in the synthetic rubber and plastics industry, said BD buyers and sellers.
