SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Asahi Kasei Corp has restarted its 390,000 tonne/year No 3 SM unit at full capacity, a source close to the company said on Friday.

Asahi Kasei Corp had earlier reduced operating rates at its 320,000 tonne/year No 2 SM unit to 75% due to poor economics and was currently running the line at Mizushima at the above mentioned rate.

"Our overall operation rates from both No 2 and 3 SM lines is 80-85%," the source said, referring to the combined nameplate capacity of 710,000 tonnes/year.
