EVENING SNAPSHOT - Asia Markets Summary

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Here is Friday’s end-of-day Asian oil and chemical market summary from ICIS pricing.

CRUDE: January WTI $44.14/bbl up 47 cents January BRENT $42.83/bbl down 55 cents

Crude futures firmed on Friday after losing more than $3/bbl the previous day. However, prices still remained close to four year lows. Prices slumped on Thursday amid news of US retail sales and reports that the number of jobless workers collecting benefits in the US had hit a 26 year high.

NAPHTHA: Asian naphtha prices closed softer Friday. Second half January price indications were pegged at $261.50-262.50/tonne CFR (cost and freight) Japan, first half February at $259.50-260.50/tonne CFR Japan and second half February at $260.50-261.50/tonne CFR Japan.

BENZENE: Prices reached $280-290/tonne FOB Korea with a deal heard at $283/tonne FOB Korea for any January loading. Offers for January lifting parcels were cited at $300-310/tonne FOB Korea that met bids at $250-285/tonne FOB Korea.

TOLUENE: Prices remained at $400-410/tonne FOB Korea with a deal heard for January loading at $410/tonne FOB Korea.
