HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) exports in October were 9,775 tonnes, up 50% from September and up 2% from the same month the year before, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Thursday.
From January through October 2008, the US exported 86,151 tonnes of ABS, down 12% from the 97,930 tonnes it shipped in the same period of 2007, the ITC said.
Imports in October were 8,388 tonnes, or 12% lower than the same month a year before and 25% less than the 11,159 tonnes received in September, the ITC said. In the first ten months of this year, it imported 91,209 tonnes of ABS, down 9% from the same period of the year before, the ITC said.
Global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing assessed medium extrusion and injection grades of ABS at $2,205-2,425/tonne (€1,698-1,867/tonne) in October, compared with $2,094-2,315/tonne on 5 December.
Major US ABS producers are BASF, INEOS and SABIC Innovative Plastics.
