NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s SRF Limited has suspended operations at its integrated nylon tyre cord fabric (NTCF) plant at Manali, near Chennai, in Tamilnadu state, due to power outages and oversupply worries, the company said on Friday.
In a brief filed with stock exchanges, SRF said: “The operations of the polymerization and spinning lines” have been suspended due to “power shortage and to avoid unnecessary inventory build-up”.
A company official would not disclose the capacity of the plant or any other related information.
An analyst had said that the company earlier this year commissioned 14 mega watt (MW) wind turbines to generate power for the Manali plant.

SRF suffered a setback in NTCF production for about 40 days at its facility at Gummidipoondi, in Tamilnadu state, due to a labour strike from September to October.
