PRAGUE (ICIS news)--Polish chemical production fell 25% year on year in November, the second worst result recorded by the country's 29 industrial sectors, the country's Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Friday.

Only the metals sector - down 34.7% - suffered more, added GUS, calculating that overall Poland's industrial output declined more sharply than it expected at 8.9%.

Motor vehicle production was also badly affected by recession-hit demand in countries that buy a substantial amount of Polish exports, falling by 17.8%.

The revised figure for October showed industrial production in that month down just 0.1%.

November's figure was the worst that GUS had recorded since Poland's economic crisis of 1989-1990 following the abolition of the communist planned economy.

GUS added that 22 of the 29 industrial sectors showed output decreases in November.
