HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazilian ethanol prices were slightly up in the week ended 2 January amid thin trading due to the year-end holidays, research group Cepea said on Tuesday.

Cepea assessed anhydrous ethanol at Brazilian reais (R) 0.8786/litre ($0.39/gal), up by 1.2% from R0.8684/litre a week earlier.

Hydrous ethanol was assessed at R0.7533/litre, up by 1.9% from R0.7392/litre in the previous week.

Brazil uses hydrous ethanol as a stand-alone fuel and blends anhydrous in gasoline at 25%.

Cepea’s price assessments are ex-tank and do not include taxes.
