US Nov acetic acid exports down almost 6% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US exports of acetic acid in November totalled 49,465 tonnes, down by almost 6% from 52,517 tonnes during the same month a year ago, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said on Tuesday.
November exports also declined more than 16% from 59,025 tonnes in October, the ITC said.
US acetic acid exports increased by more than 13% through November compared to the same 11-month period of 2007, reflecting a recessionary US economy.
Mexico, Belgium and Brazil were the top export destinations in the year-to-date period, accounting for a collective 522,950 tonnes or about 68% of total shipments.
US Gulf coast export FOB (free on board) prices were $550-650/tonne (€413-488/tonne) over the past month, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
Major US acetic acid sellers include BP, Celanese and Eastman Chemical.
