Dow may announce job cuts at Texas plant - report

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical was expected to announce more job cuts this week at its Freeport complex in Texas, according to a news report on Wednesday.

The Facts, a news publication in the Freeport area, reported that Dow will make known a yet-to-be specified number of full-time job cuts as part of its move to reduce its payroll worldwide. Employees were told earlier this week of the pending action, according to the publication.  

Company officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Dow's facility in Freeport is one of the world's largest chemical manufacturing facilities.

In December, Dow announced it would close 20 plants in high-cost locations, idle 180 more and cut 5,000 full-time and 6,000 contract employees companywide.
