LONDON (ICIS news)--LyondellBasell will attempt to raise its polyethylene (PE) prices by €100/tonne ($130/tonne) in February, a source from the petrochemicals major said on Friday.

“We will bring Aubette down for next week to maintain a tight supply/demand situation,” the source said.

The company’s Aubette, PE unit in France produces 320,000 tonnes/year of low density polyethylene (LDPE).

The company already reported a tight stock position on LDPE. High density polyethylene (HDPE) inventories were said to be balanced.

Dow announced a €90/tonne hike on February PE earlier on Friday.

PE producers in Europe include Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), ExxonMobil, LyondellBasell, Borealis, Total Petrochemicals, INEOS Polyolefins, Polimeri Europa and Repsol.
