HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Dow Chemical has begun a 16-day turnaround at its Freeport LHC-8 cracker in Texas, the company said on Friday.
The 998,000 tonne/year unit was shut down on Thursday and is expected to be restarted on 21 February, a company spokesperson said.
Dow had originally announced the shut down in Freeport on 29 January in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
However, the spokesperson said the stoppage was delayed until 5 February.
Dow has a second cracker in Freeport, LHC-7, with ethylene capacity for 612,000 tonnes/year. That unit remained operational.
