HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US paraxylene (PX) inventories were 535.4m lb (243,000 tonnes) at the end of the fourth quarter, down 11% from the third quarter and down 18% from a year earlier, the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) said on Friday.
The fall reflects a sharp slowdown in demand that encouraged market participants to reduce their stockpiles amid slumping prices.
The NPRA data was based on input from eight companies. The industry association did not report PX production data.
