SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Saudi Arabian major SABIC has achieved commercial production at its No 3 Ibn Zahr polypropylene (PP) plant at Al-Jubail, sources close to the project said on Thursday.

“A few PP cargoes have been offered to customers from the newly started line,” one of the sources said.

Propylene for the new 450,000 tonne/year line is procured from an olefins conversion technology (OCT) unit of the same size, which has also started commercial production, a second source said.

Ibn Zahr runs two other PP units at Al-Jubail with a combined capacity of 640,000 tonnes/year.
