SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Formosa-Idemitsu Petrochemical (FIPC) will keep its No 1 and No 2 polycarbonate (PC) units at Mailiao, Taiwan, off line due to weak market conditions, a company source said on Wednesday.

"No restart dates have been set for our No 1 and No 2 units," the source said. "We will restart our plants only when the market conditions are favourable."

The restart of its No 1 60,000 tonne/year PC unit has been delayed indefinitely after it was shut down for an annual turnaround in early September last year.

The No 2 50,000 tonne/year unit was taken offline in early January due to poor demand.

FIPC's No 3 75,000 tonne/year unit was currently running at full rates, the source said.

"All three units are scheduled for annual maintenance in September," the source said.

FIPC, which is a joint venture between Formosa Chemical & Fibre Corp (FCFC) and Japan’s Idemitsu Corp, operates three PC units at Mailiao.
