SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--LG Chem, South Korea’s largest isopropanol (IPA) producer, plans to restart its 55,000 tonne/year acetone-based line in Yeocheon around mid-March after a scheduled maintenance shutdown, a company official said on Thursday.
The line was taken offline on 1 February. Some traders had earlier said that poor demand from the downstream paints and coatings sector could have prompted the shutdown of the unit.
LG Chem's other propylene-based 45,000 tonne/year IPA line at the same site is currently running at 100% capacity, the source added.
