LONDON (ICIS news)--Kuwait's Petrochemical Industries Co (PIC) will have its gas supply reduced in March, resulting in a cut to its urea output, a company source said on Thursday.

The Kuwaiti government had informed PIC that it would redirect its Shuaiba gas supply for other unspecified uses.

Exact timings had not been confirmed, although the diversion was expected to start imminently.

As a result, PIC was concentrating on its urea contract commitments and offering no spot tonnage.

For the past two years, PIC has had its gas supply cut by 50% for varying periods.

PIC has a total urea capacity of just over 1m tonnes/year and has contract customers in countries including the US, Thailand and Australia.
