SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Asian soda ash contracts for the second quarter of 2009 have been settled at $250-260/tonne (€197.50-205.40/tonne), unchanged from the first quarter as high feedstock costs acted as a buffer against further price drops, buyers and sellers said on Wednesday.
The contract prices, which were on cost and freight (CFR) Asia basis, remained stable despite weak downstream demand and high inventory levels.Soda ash is used to make float glass for construction and consumer goods such as glass bottles and detergent.
