HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US polyvinyl chloride (PVC) exports were 142,258 tonnes in January, up by 21% from the same month one year earlier, according to US International Trade Commission (ITC) data released on Friday.
Exports in January were also 15% higher than the 123,168 tonnes shipped in December.
China was the top destination for US PVC exports in January and received 29% of all shipments, followed by Canada, Turkey and Egypt.
PVC imports in January were 9,788 tonnes, down by 35% from the same month one year earlier, the ITC said.
Imports in January were also 36% lower than the 15,303 tonnes received in December.
US PVC export spot prices were assessed last week at $600-640/tonne (€468-499/tonne) FOB (free on board) US Gulf, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
US PVC producers include Westlake Chemical, Occidental Chemical, Georgia Gulf, Shintech and Formosa Plastics.
