HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Invista has shut down its Victoria adiponitrile (ADN) plant in Texas because of a fire in an electrical breaker cabinet last week, the company said on Friday.

Invista said repairs were underway, and the 375,000 tonne/year unit was expected to resume operations in April.

The company also operates an ADN plant in Orange, Texas, with 240,000 tonnes/year of capacity.

That unit has been offline since Hurricane Ike hit Texas in September.

Invista is a major consumer of butadiene (BD). The company uses BD to produce ADN, which in turn is used as a feedstock in the production of nylon 6,6.
