India’s GSFC to expand nylon 6 chips capacity

NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals (GSFC) plans to expand its nylon 6 chips capacity by 50% to 12,000 tonnes/year through debottlenecking at its site at Surat, in Gujarat state, a government official said on Thursday.

The company also plans to expand its nylon 6 chips compounding capacity to 7,500 tonnes/year by installing a new unit at the site, the official said.

The Indian government has asked the company to submit an environmental impact assessment report on the project to secure environmental approval, the official said.

However, the government has exempted the company from holding a public hearing on the project, the official said, without providing further details.
