SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Thailand's TPI Polene may shut its 158,000 tonne/year ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/low density polyethylene (LDPE) swing plant at Map Ta Phut, Rayong province, in the second half of this month to probe recent technical issues, a company official said on Monday.
"We had some technical issues which resulted in reduced EVA output at 75% of its capacity for the past two weeks," he said. The plant was operating at 100% capacity before the technical problems hit operations, he added.
"We will carry out investigations into the cause of the technical problem after the Songkran festival, which takes place from 13 to 15 April," he said, adding that the duration of the shutdown will depend on the probe.
