SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan's Mitsui Chemicals plans to restart its toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) plants in mid June after shutting them for maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

Its 120,000 tonne/year TDI plant at Ohmuta is scheduled to resume production around 16 June, and its TDI plant at Kashima with the same capacity is due to be restarted on 18 June.

The Ohmuta plant was shut on 10 March and the Kashima plant was shut on 13 April.

Maintenance at these plants is usually scheduled to start in May and last for about a month, but the plants have been shut earlier this year due to weak demand, the source said.

Mitsui Chemicals was formerly known as Mitsui Chemicals Polyurethanes. The company’s name was changed from 1 April due to internal reorganisation.
