HOUSTON (ICIS news)--ExxonMobil will restart its Beaumont ethylene unit in Texas that has been shut down since Hurricane Ike struck the region in September, a company spokesman said on Monday.
The company, in a public filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), estimated emissions from the restart of ethylene, USC1 and USC2 units from 12 April to 20 June.
“Work continues to repair other portions of the Beaumont Chemical Plant impacted by Hurricane Ike,” spokesman Jeff Neu said.
ExxonMobil has an ethylene capacity of 826,000 tonnes/year in Beaumont, according to data from global chemical market intelligence service ICIS plants and projects.
