HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A spokesperson for North American polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer Invista confirmed on Tuesday the permanent closure of the company’s Millhaven plant near Kingston, Ontario.

The 195,000 tonne/year Millhaven facility was idled in November amid a worsening economic climate.

Invista sought buyers for the Millhaven facility but found no acceptable bids.

Invista had been the largest private sector employer in the greater Kingston, Ontario, area, with 1,200 employees at three facilities including Millhaven, according to the Kingston Chamber of Commerce.
