Russia's Silvinit sees 63% drop in Jan-March potash output

MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Russia's Silvinit produced 522,600 tonnes of potash in the January-March period, down 63% from 1.4m tonnes in the same period of 2008, the potash producer said in a statement released on Wednesday.

In March, Silvinit produced 255,400 tonnes of potash, up 25.4% from February, it said.

Silvinit, a major potash producer in Russia, is based in Berezniki, in the Perm region of the Ural Mountains.

It produced 5.1m tonnes of potash in 2008, according to the company.
