SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--BP Zhuhai will shut down its 900,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) facility in southern China by the end of the week to rectify a mechanical problem, sources close to the company said on Friday.
The shutdown is expected to last about 10-14 days, one of the sources said. The problem was curtailing output since late March.
The producer’s smaller 500,000 tonne/year PTA unit at the same Zhuhai site will be restarted in the next few days, after more than two months of down time, the source added.
BP officials were not immediately available for comment.
