SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China’s Connell Chemical Co started commercial production at its new Jilin-based 150,000 tonne/year aniline unit early this month, a company source said on Friday.
"We have started sales this month. The unit is running well, nearly at full capacity," the source told ICIS news.
The construction of the unit started in 2007 with an investment of yuan (CNY)850m ($124m), the source said. It was scheduled to come on line last year but the start up was delayed to March 2009 due to low demand amidst the global financial crisis.
The company plans to double the capacity of the unit in the city of Jilin, in northeastern Jilin province, but a timeline has not been decided yet, the source added.
Aniline is one of the most important organic chemical widely used in dyes, drugs and pesticides.
