SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical plans to shut its 20,000 tonne/year methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant in Mizushima, Okayama prefecture, in early June for a 40-day annual turnaround, a company official said on Tuesday.
"The plant is expected to restart around mid-July," he said. The exact date of the shutdown was not immediately available.
MIBK is mainly used as a solvent for industrial paints and in the production of rubber chemicals.
