HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Here is Thursday’s end-of-day Americas oil and chemical market summary from ICIS pricing.
CRUDE: Jun WTI: $49.62/bbl, up 77 cents; Jun Brent: $50.11/bbl, up 30 cents
Crude oil futures prices were volatile during the trading session as Wall Street strengthened amid a weakened dollar that attracted investors to the commodities markets. After sliding early in the day on economic data indicating larger-than-expected job loss claims and the pace of homes sales falling sharply lower than expected, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) reversed course and climbed back above the $49/bbl line.
NATURAL GAS: $3.409/MMBtu, down 12.3 cents
Natural gas futures fell on higher-than-anticipated builds in US inventories last week and mild forecasts the rest of the week.
RBOB: $1.3944/gal, up 0.38 cent
Reformulated gasoline blendstock for oxygenate blending (RBOB) barely settled in positive territory after a late-day rally on commodities.
BENZENE: April benzene was in its final days of trading with prompt material talked in the low-to-mid $1.90s/gal on the US Gulf. May offers held at a 1-2 cent/gal premium.
ETHYLENE: US ethylene bid/offers were at 21.25-23.75 cents/lb on Thursday. Ethylene for April was last heard traded at 23.50 cents/lb on Monday.
PROPYLENE: Refinery-grade propylene (RGP) for April traded at 23.50 cents/lb on Thursday, down from a May deal done on Tuesday at 23.75 cents/lb.
