SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Asian polycarbonate (PC) spot prices remained on an uptrend as regional producers - facing firm feedstock bisphenol-A (BPA) values and tight availability - maintained strict discipline, traders said on Thursday.
Spot prices for optical grade PC rose $20-50/tonne (€15-38/tonne) to $1,750-1,900/tonne CIF (cost insurance and freight) Hong Kong and Taiwan whereas values for general purpose (GP) moulding grade were steady at $2,000-2,100/tonne CIF Hong Kong, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
"We are targeting further price hikes in May," said a regional producer. But weak downstream demand was expected to cap the rising prises, the producer added.
Buying sentiment was cautious amid an uncertain pricing outlook, traders said.
