HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US orthoxylene (OX) contract prices rolled over to May from April's benchmark of 36.50 cents/lb ($805/tonne, €604/tonne), contract participants said on Tuesday.
Stability in the US mixed xylene (MX) raw material market accounted for the flat movement in OX pricing, sources said.
US May MX contracts settled at $2.08-2.10/gal, nearly on par with April's range of $2.05-2.10/gal, according to data from global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
Spot MX prices in the US Gulf had also been in close proximity to the April contract leading into May.
Major US producers of OX include ExxonMobil and Flint Hills Resources while the market's main buyers are Stepan and BASF.
